On Sept. 12, 2025, the highest grossing anime movie of all time was released into theaters– “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle”. This global phenomenon grossed $555 million (and counting) and exploded with popularity.
The movie picks up right where the Hashira Training Arc ended, which many fans have praised, as it picks up right where the show left off. There was not any missing time between the ending of the Hashira Training Arc and the movie.
The entirety of the movie is set in Muzan’s Infinity Castle, with the Upper Moon Four demon, Makime, controlling the entire castle. The three main fights in this movie were absolutely amazing, and the animation was clean and very well done. The three main fights in this movie you see are: Shinobu Kocho fighting the Upper Rank Two Demon, Lord Douma. You also see Zenitsu fighting his own personal demons in his fight against Kaigaku. Finally, the last fight you see in this film is when Tanjiro finally gets his long-awaited rematch with Upper Rank Three, Akaza. What I find interesting is that during the fights is that you get to see the backstories of these various demons. This helps to develop their characters, and I think it was done really well.
This truly amazing film brought triumph through various fights and heartbreaking moments, along with amazing character development. One critique I will say is that the pacing of the movie is a little too fast. You learn a lot of information in the span of 155 minutes. Now, as this movie has already been confirmed to have a sequel, I would have liked to see the pacing of this movie mesh well with the upcoming movie.
The movie is currently unavailable to stream on any platform due to the fact that it was recently released in theaters. It is likely that the movie will be available for streaming in 2026.
