March was a productive month for Lake Land’s Student Government Association (SGA) despite the break and ongoing elections.
SGA began by attending the leadership and communication event with Tim Duffy, the founder of the Electus Society and award-winning speaker, who presented “Who Do You Dislike & Why? Understanding Personality Types for Conflict Resolution” on March 4. There, he explained how to leverage each person’s abilities and personality to build a productive team. Everyone that attended received a Lake Land College leather portfolio for their time.
After the break, the Student Government Association moved on to planning upcoming events. They discussed the upcoming Club Lunch on April 1, the Red Cross Blood Drive on April 2, the Student Recognition Banquet on April 29 and the Spring Carnival on May 6.
They also finalized details for Advocacy Day, a yearly event hosted by the Illinois Community College Board that allows SGA to advocate for ideas that can benefit Lake Land College and the area as a whole. Details on the latter events will be made publicly available once they are finalized.
Additionally, two new constitution changes—one for the Student Government Association and one for the Nursing Club—were approved.
With the school year winding to a close and several events fast approaching, the SGA is dedicated to improving the student experience.
