Boy Throb is the latest boy band craze, but who are they really? I mean, what is their deal? Many people think that the group is some sort of social experiment or parody, but it is not that simple. Boy Throb is, despite appearances, a genuine band trying to make a new start. They gained popularity over one of their members’ immigration journey and have used their newfound success to not only produce original music but also bring awareness to the immigration system.
Boy Throb is a boy band consisting of four members: Anthony Key, Evan Papier, Zachary Sobania and Darshan Magdum. They are known for their matching pink tracksuits and their short covers of pop songs. One more thing stands out, though: their fourth member, Darshan, is physically absent from their videos. The situation is this: Darshan is currently living in India, and the group needs our help to bring him to the U.S.
This is Boy Throb’s main appeal: audience participation. It is how the group gained notoriety so quickly. Just by supporting the band and listening to their music, you help Darshan in some way get his U.S. visa. Unfortunately, the immigration process is long and complicated, so many fans have expressed frustrations about how long it is taking for Darshan to immigrate.
Instead of getting upset with their audience, Boy Throb is taking a more constructive approach to the criticism. They have officially submitted Darshan’s visa application and have since taken to spreading awareness about the immigration process. Many of their videos are fairly educational or at least clarify specifics on their experience getting Darshan to the U.S.
In a political climate so divided and dangerous as it is today, seeing people spread awareness on issues such as immigration policy is always a good thing. Boy Throb may be a bit silly, but they do a good job of getting people’s attention on issues that actually matter! If you would like to support them or listen to their music, you can find them on TikTok and Spotify. Stream Boy Throb!
