On Feb. 14, 2026, the Lake Land men’s basketball team faced off with the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils. The game started off well, with the Lakers in a small lead, but the game proved to be tough as the Blue Devils put up a fight to catch up in the second half.
The Lakers also had a setback when #11, freshman Keenan Gray, suffered a minor injury in the second half while they were up 48-42. Freshman Lavell Tinsley was substituted in his place, and he scored six points total throughout the game. About 15 minutes later, Gray was back on the court, and the crowd’s energy was up again.
The team displayed good chemistry on the court, with shots varying from impressive three-pointers to fast and intense layups. Freshman Jackson Rigdon and sophomore Andrew Wetzel also played most of the game, continuing to see increased playing time since the beginning of the semester. Sophomore Loic Affoumon led the team with 18 points, followed by Keenan Gray with 17.
Late in the game, the Blue Devils slowly closed the point gap, with the Lakers losing 82-81. The close game highlighted the determination and competitive spirit of the Lake Land men’s basketball team.
The next men’s basketball game will be at Lake Land College on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:00pm in the field house. Students have free admission with a valid student ID, so go support your fellow Lakers and stop by!
