One of the main reasons to play Stardew Valley is the chance to romance the game’s peak candidates. All the marriage candidates are Abigail, Emily, Haley, Maru, Penny, Leah, Elliot, Alex, Shane, Sam, Sebastian and Harvey. Now, let me be honest, only one of these candidates is the best, and that is Sebastian.
Now you might be thinking, wow goth boy stuck in the 2000’s listening to Black Veil Brides for the rest of his life, but you are wrong, and there are plenty of reasons to support this claim.
Sebastian has one of the most unique and in-depth personalities in the whole game. Not only is he the charming type, but his interests are also very detailed. For starters, he loves motorcycles, especially his own. When you start befriending Sebastian and reach four hearts with him, he will take you for a ride on his motorcycle which is very romantic. I will not spoil it for those playing or wanting to play Stardew Valley.
Sebastian also has a passion for computer gaming and fantasy fiction. He also works as a freelance programmer. As far as his interest in fantasy fiction, he is really into wizards and space operas.
Another reason he is the best character is that he has the most intriguing and steady character development. The player slowly learns more about his passions and creative spark, as you interact with him and befriend him. His development is perfectly paced, and I think that is amazing. You really get to learn more about him when you start interacting with him on a daily basis.
Another reason for marrying him is that he is romantic. During certain heart events, Sebastian may visit new locations with the player. But there is a very special heart event; when you visit the lake, Sebastian will really open up to you.
Another reason that you should marry Sebastian is that the gifts and interests that he likes are easy to give and therefore makes it easier for you to befriend him more quickly. Sebastian’s loved gifts are frozen tears, sashimi, pumpkin soup, obsidian and void eggs. His liked gifts are quartz and coffee. His hated gifts are any artisan goods, eggs, omelets, a complete breakfast and clay. Try to get him the loved gifts as often as you can, as they will raise your friendship even faster. Never give him the gifts he hates, as this can hinder your friendship.
The last reason you should marry Sebastian is his independence. He is a loner, lives with his parents and loves getting absorbed in his hobbies. This adds something truly unique to his character. All the factors I have discussed in this article show that Sebastian is the best marriage candidate in Stardew Valley. So, do not let his goth appearance and loner personality turn you away from a wonderful marriage. I have almost 200 hours of gameplay for Stardew Valley, so please take this advice… and do not choose to romance Shane, even if a blue chicken is on the line.
