Lake Land College (LLC) Sophomore Brooke Beyers has served as the Student Government Association’s (SGA) treasurer for the 2021-2022 school year. This means that she is responsible for organizing funds, tracking monies coming and going, distributing money to clubs and signing off on memos. In addition to these duties, she is also the chair of the SGA Election Committee. When asked what she liked about being a key member of SGA, Beyers stated that she liked that she held some power to make a difference for the student body, but wished more people were involved and showed interest in what they are doing.

Beyers is originally from Gibson City, Illinois and graduated from Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School in 2020. She opted to come to LLC because of the scholarship she received for being a member of the LLC Livestock Judging Team. Besides SGA and the Livestock Judging Team, she is also a member of Collegiate Farm Bureau and Ag Transfer Club.

Beyers’ Ag Transfer major is a natural continuation of her upbringing. She grew up on her family’s farm where they raise and sell show pigs. Beyers remarked that she goes home to her 250 pigs whenever she gets the chance, and invests countless hours grooming and training them. She spends the summer with them every year, as well as working for a local coffee shop. After graduating from LLC this spring, Beyers plans to transfer to Texas Tech University (TTU), where she will study Ag Communications and Marketing. Her ultimate goal is to be hired as a graphic designer for an agriculture company.
