Laker’s WBB claim the NJCAA National Championship title

The Women’s Basketball team played their final game of the season on April 24 and finished the season on a win. With a total of 27 games, the last six ending in wins. All the hard work paid off in the end, as they are now Division 2 National Champions in the NJCAA tournament. This is the first national title in the program’s history for LLC. 

With a final score of 53-49, the Lady Lakers defeated Johnson County and claimed the championship title. This victory marks the end of an outstanding season for the Women’s Basketball team. 

Plans to gather and welcome the team home were made, with COVID-19 restrictions in place. The Lady Lakers are expected to arrive back on campus Sunday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. where fans will welcome them home outside the Field House in Parking Lot A. As for the rest of the season, the team had a total of 25 wins and two losses. The team averaged 70 points, and 7.7 three pointers per game. There was an average of 10 offensive rebounds, 25.9 defensive rebounds and 35.8 total rebounds per game. They also averaged 12 steals, 0.4 blocks and 12.9 turnovers per game. 

Overall, this season was one that will go down in LLC history. The Women’s Basketball team was outstanding. Way to go Lady Lakers!
