Opening games for the Laker 2020-21 season: Women’s basketball

The women’s basketball season started off with a win at a home game vs. Lincoln Trail College with 72-62. They then won their second game, home vs. Olney Central College with 75-58. 

This year’s roster includes 14 players, 11 of which were sophomores and three freshmen. The 11 sophomores include: forward Johanna Schultz from Altamont, guard Harley Barry from Shiloh, guard Kamaria Gant from Bloomington, forward Tresoir Newson from Normal, guard Abby Weis from Effingham, guard Jae Lynn Riggleman from Casey-Westfield, forward Shania Schoonover from Pana, guard Josie Orris from Sullivan, Mya Tinsley from Ridgeview, forward Elizabeth Buescher from Charleston and guard Kayla Sirjord from Ulen-Hitterdal, Minn. The three freshmen include Avery Still from Sullivan, guard Olivia Niemerg from Teutopolis and guard Karrington Krabel from Paris.

The nine upcoming February games include: Feb. 6 Away vs. John A. Logan College at 1 p.m., Feb. 11 Home vs. John Wood Community College at 6 p.m., Feb. 14 Home vs. Spoon River College at 1 p.m., Feb. 16 Away vs. Lincoln Trail at 5 p.m., Feb. 18 Away vs. Illinois Central College at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 21 Away vs. Lewis & Clark Community College at 1 p.m., Feb. 22 Home vs. Kaskaskia College at 6 p.m., Feb. 25 Home vs. Parkland College at 6 p.m. and Feb. 28 Away vs. Danville Area Community College at 1 p.m.

Even though there’s limited attendance for games, there’s always a live stream posted where you can watch home or away games.
