On Feb. 4, 2026, Lake Land College kicked off February’s Student Activity Board (SAB) calendar with magician and keynote speaker Josh McVicar, who shared personal anecdotes on how to achieve goals and success while engaging the audience with a magic show.
McVicar offered tips on how to stay focused and set realistic goals, using his life story as an example to students. He also entertained the crowd with tricks and illusions, appearing to read a student’s mind and make objects appear when least expected. The event took place during the Student Government Association’s (SGA) High School Leadership Conference hosted on campus, and high schoolers joined Lakers in witnessing the motivational session with a magical twist.
The next SAB event was the Valentine’s paint party, hosted Feb. 11. Lakers had the chance to celebrate an early Valentine’s Day by painting canvases and supporting clubs by buying from their sales stands. The event was vibrant and a great way for students to create a personal art piece for themselves or a loved one in preparation for the holiday!
The following SAB event focused on helping students relax and de-stress ahead of midterm season. Feb. 18th, students stopped by for mini massages, lasting five to ten minutes each. Stress toys also filled the tables, varying from play dough and coloring books to fidget rings and under-eye patches.
As weeks sometimes become crowded with exams and deadlines, SAB always makes sure to organize events for Lakers to take a much-needed break and have fun on Wednesdays. Stay tuned for the upcoming events and enjoy SAB events every Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Luther Student Center!
