This month, The Navigator is highlighting the Student Government Association’s (SGA) Treasurer for the 2025-2026 school year, Addison Urbanski.
In the interview, Urbanski stressed the importance of networking and effective communication. “As someone who is typically very busy between volleyball and other clubs,” she said, “I do my best to network and talk to as many people as possible … to find a wide arrange of opinions to make an informed decision.”
Like her peers, she believes in helping other students reach their academic potential. That is why she supports joining “as many clubs as possible” during one’s time at Lake Land. Lake Land’s clubs aim to bolster student voices and help them find community in a sea of stranger—a goal that Urbanski wholeheartedly believes in.
Urbanski grew up in a town called La Salle, Illinois. Though her hometown is closer to Chicago than it is Mattoon, she learned many of the same lessons. Those there taught her to “always do more” and supported her through hard times. Of this, she said, “The people I surrounded myself with during childhood taught me resilience … [I learned to] not be afraid to fail.”
Addison hopes that her legacy at Lake Land will be one of kindness and positive change.
