Have you ever wanted to share your passion for all things artistic with like-minded students? If so, then the Creative Arts Club (CAC), located here on Lake Land College’s (LLC) campus, is the club for you!
The club’s mission, according to LLC’s website, is to “encourage and foster a deeper sense of community among Lake Land students through art,” while also promoting artwork done by students in a variety of styles and forms.
The CAC, while already amassing a core group of students, just began its first official school year as a fully-fledged LLC club this fall! It all began last spring, when, in order to create a more comprehensive community among the many artistic students and their clubs at Lake Land, the Swiftie Nation Club, the Theater Club and the Art Club combined to form the Creative Arts Club, which officially became established in August.
Just this fall, the Creative Arts Club has been involved in multiple events on campus, including a bake sale, a haunted trail and the enjoyable Halloween-themed Monster Mash, with the latter two events held on Oct. 29.
During weekly meetings, especially in preparation for CAC’s Monster Mash event, committees are formed and tasks assigned by students who are passionate about the club’s mission. For students who are interested in joining, meetings are currently held every other Wednesday at noon.
Alex Beever, sitting President of the Creative Arts Club, has been involved with the club since the first meeting of the semester. When asked about their leadership role and involvement in the club, Beever commented, “I knew I wanted to be a part of it.”
From short films and photography to welding and even digital art, Beever has certainly tried out quite a few different creative avenues. This is something Beever loves about the Creative Arts Club, stating, “We do a lot of really cool things, and don’t just tap into some parts of creativity, we tap into them all.”
When asked about the weekly meetings, which are one of the best parts of the Creative Arts Club for Beever, the president mentioned, “Having that sense of community within a club, I think, is really important.” Beever went on to elaborate with, “It’s because of that [collaboration] that we’re able to do the events that we do.”
For students who are interested in joining the Creative Arts Club, in the words of Beever, “If you want to be involved in something, I highly recommend the Creative Arts Club, because your ideas will be represented, and your ideas can definitely become a reality!”
