For anyone feeling overwhelmed by the holidays, finals or life in general, Lake Land College (LLC) is offering a free premium subscription to the Calm app for students and staff. The app was first made available to staff on Nov. 9 after receiving such a strong, positive reaction from students when it was released to them earlier this year.

Senior Human Resources Generalist and College Compliance Coordinator, Colleen Winchester, manages the Calm app for staff members. She said that one of the main reasons why the subscription was extended to staff is because it can benefit everyone. Stress is felt by both students and staff, so access to an app that is focused on helping people calm down can be helpful.

The Calm app gives users access to sleep sounds and music, as well as video classes on meditation and mindful movement. For Winchester, her favorite part of the app is the sleep stories, which she uses when her grandkids visit to help them wind down before bed. She said she also received feedback from one of her colleagues that their favorite aspect of Calm is the meditation feature.
