Things were not JUST spooky at Lake Land’s Club or Treat event on Oct. 30. The Active Minds Club brought treats and sweets to the special occasion with their Halloween-themed bake sale! Thanks to this club, Club or Treat eventgoers were able to stop by and purchase from a wide selection of sweet, Halloween-themed goodies and drinks, each made by one of the club’s members. They sold brownies, pumpkin cream cheese muffins, caramel apples, cake pops, pumpkin spice lattes, “potion” drinks and more!
The Club or Treat event overall had a great turnout, with plenty of both creepy and creative costumes on display from both students and staff. The Active Minds Club bake sale had plenty of visitors as well! “Today’s bake sale went really nicely, and we had a lot of fun! After two months of planning, we are pretty proud of everything,” mentions Anyssa Margaret, President of the Active Minds Club. She also included that the funds received from this bake sale will be going toward the club’s future events.
Not only has this club organized a Halloween-themed bake sale, but they also sold St. Patrick’s Day-themed goodies back in March as well. They have also previously taken part in an Easter/April Fool’s Day egg hunt, created a pamphlet and handed out conchas for Hispanic Heritage Month and hosted a beadwork craft in honor of Indigenous People’s Day. Make sure to be on the lookout for more events from the Active Minds Club, as there are still more activities to come before the semester is up. In fact, the Active Minds Club looks forward to hosting a “Stuff the Turkey” food drive throughout the month of Nov., where clubs will be able to show off their creative skills by designing a box to resemble a turkey and students can vote on their favorites design by donating food to the box of their choice.
The Active Minds Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading mental health awareness and providing students with fun activities and various mental health resources.
