Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and Megan Fox have supposedly been dating since the summer of 2020. The couple has recently become a very popular topic in pop-culture and many fans feel second-hand embarrassment by the middle-aged celebrities acting like middle schoolers in their first relationship. They have been nothing but extremely cringey ever since MGK and Fox met, when Fox told him, “You smell like weed,” and he smoothly replied with, “I am weed.” Fox reported that he then “disappeared like a ninja in a smoke bomb.” While this experience alone is bad enough, the reign of cringe has continued, and dare I say, worsened. 

GQ conducted an interview with the couple in which they quizzed their knowledge about each other. In this interview, Fox talked about the “I am weed” experience, stated that she and MGK have matching tattoos, have tattoos of each other’s initials and even gave each other tattoos. They also showed a ‘special’ handshake the two made that really gives off middle school energy. When asked about their first date, MGK said that they “breathed each other.” The meaning of that is still unknown. Fox shared the pet names that she had given MGK. The list includes Budda, Cookie, Lamby and Blonde Angel Baby. However, the most notably odd part of the interview was Fox reciting MGK’s full astrology chart. When Fox was asked what MGK’s sun sign was she instantly replied with a very in depth reply saying, “Your sun is Taurus, your moon is Pisces, your rising is Gemini, you have a stellium of planets in Pisces, your sun is in the twelfth house which is the house that is ruled by Neptune, which is the ruler of Pisces. You’re very Piscean and you’re very Gemini, very morose. And the moods are very intense, but I know the whole chart.” Fox did not hesitate one bit while answering, she had the whole chart completely memorized, which seems a little creepy. 

GQ also conducted a photoshoot with the couple. Fox posted two of these photos on instagram. One of the photos shows Fox pointing a gun at MGK’s crotch while Fox is almost completely nude, and MGK is wearing a trench coat with big boxy shoulder pads and thigh-high boots. The other picture is a close-up of the two kissing. Fox’s caption reads, “The tale of two outcasts and star crossed lovers caught in the throes of a torrid, solar flare of a romance featuring: feverish obsession, guns, addiction, shamans, lots of blood, general mayhem, therapy, tantric night terrors, binding rituals, chakra sound baths, psychedelic hallucinations, organic smoothies and the kind of sex that would make Lucifer clutch his roasary.” This caption confused many fans. 

TikTok user @lilyftcm1 captured a video of the couple in Jacksonville, Fla. after a MGK concert. The video shows MGK picking Fox up and then making out with her. While this was taking place, MGK’s security team and fans stood by awkwardly and then started recording the two. When @lilyftcm1 posted the video on TikTok she captioned it “The way that MGK and Megan Fox are both the luckiest people in the world.” However, while some fans did not seem to agree with the user’s caption, many other users commented that the couple’s affection towards each other seemed fake or forced. Other comments mentioned how uncomfortable their act of PDA was for others to watch. One commenter pointed out that, “This kind of feels like the couple that constantly feels the need to convince everyone they’re happy.” Other ‘it’ couples do not usually jump into each other’s arms and then intimately kiss in public, knowing that people are recording them.

Ghostly pale and skinny men getting into relationships with notably attractive women has been a recent trend in pop culture. Another popular ‘it’ couple that follows this trend is Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian. Davidson and MGK, who are actually close friends, both fit into the category of tall, anemic-looking, emo men, while Kardashian and Fox are known for being two of the most attractive women in media. These two relationships do not seem to be a coincidence. This brings up the question of whether these relationships are real or created by publists. Publicists and managers may be behind the reason that MGK and Fox are so cringe-worthy. Or perhaps it really is just how MGK and Fox naturally act around each other. No matter the reasons for these uncomfortable situations, most fans agree that their relationship is odd to say the least.
