Opening games for the Laker 2020-21 season: Men’s basketball

The 2020-21 Lakers men’s basketball season started off with a 105-103 win in the first game against Kankakee College on Jan. 23. They then had their first home game against Parkland College with a 80-89 loss on Jan. 27.

This season’s roster has 16 players, which includes six sophomores and 10 freshmen. Among the sophomores are: small forward Isaiah May from Belleville, shooting guard Amari Sherrod from Gary, Ind., shooting guard Jonah Smith from Mt. Zion, shooting guard Jevon Morris from Munster, Ind., forward/center Clint Weber from Teutopolis and power forward/center Christian Kapongo from Hamilton, Ontario. The freshmen include: guard Malachi Davis from Toronto, Canada, shooting guard Leroy Walker from Cincinnati, Ohio, small forward Anthony Scales from Zionville, Ind., guard Everett Stubblefield from Chicago, guard Jaydon Noe from Mattoon, shooting guard Trevor Roy from Neoga, center Yassen Hussein, power forward Kwamir Mercer from Melbourne, Fla., forward Jesse Burdick from Marshall and forward/center Hamilton Wallace from São Paulo, Brazil.

The nine upcoming February games for the season include: Feb. 1 Home vs. Lincoln Trail College at 6 p.m., Feb. 3 Away vs. Vincennes University at 6 p.m., Feb. 6 Home vs. Danville Area Community College at 3 p.m., Feb. 8 Home vs. Shawnee College at 6 p.m., Feb. 10 Away vs. Lewis & Clark College at 6 p.m., Feb. 17 Away vs. Kaskaskia College at 7 p.m., Feb. 20 Home vs. Southwestern Illinois College at 3 p.m., Feb. 24 Away vs. Wabash Valley College at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 27 Away vs. Olney Central College at 3 p.m.

Even though there’s limited attendance for games, there’s always a live stream posted where you can watch home or away games.
