Welcome back Lakers! Lake Land College’s (LLC) Student Activity Board (SAB) hosted yet another successful Welcome Day on Wednesday, Aug 27, 2025, providing incoming and returning students alike with a fun event that was hard to miss!
The theme of this year’s Welcome Day was none other than a “BBQ Party.” Tables were decked out with checkered tablecloths and BBQ-themed balloons. Upon signing in at the beginning of the event, students received two $5 tickets each which could be redeemed at the food trucks located outside of the Field House, where Welcome Day was held. Tables from various clubs had much to offer as well. The Student Government Association (SGA) hosted a prize wheel for students. Winners were able to receive a small prize, a large prize or even a mystery prize. Alongside these prizes, students were also able to learn a little more about what SGA and its fellow clubs have to offer. Along with the treats and prizes offered at the event were a multitude of activities that could be enjoyed by students. Some of these included a free t-shirt, lunch, games, giveaways and glitter tattoos. The star of the show, however, was the station offering students the opportunity to have their faces etched into keepsake crystals!
For Isabelle Garofano, freshman reporter for The Navigator News, Welcome Day was a fun and entertaining event. When asked about the many tables set up by Lake Land’s various clubs and activities, Garafano said, “It was very informative getting to know more about the clubs and organizations here at Lake Land,” and “I had a great time!”
Abigail Metzger, a sophomore and fellow reporter for the Navigator, also commented, “Welcome Day was a fun surprise for me; everyone was inviting and friendly.”
Overall, Welcome Day was a massive success for Lake Land College and offered a warm welcome to all Lakers!
