The Lake Land Lakers men’s basketball team finished the 2024-25 season with a 23-9 record, including an 11-5 record in the Great Rivers Athletics Conference (GRAC). Additionally, the Lakers were 15-2 at home, 6-6 on the road and 2-1 in neutral site games.
The Lakers won their first eight games of the season before losing to the Southeastern Community College Blackhawks, 72-62, at the Broadway Classic in Burlington, IA on Nov. 30. The Lakers finished November with an 8-1 record.
In December, the Lakers won all four of their games, which were all at home and had a 12-1 record before New Years. On Dec. 3, they defeated Danville Community College, 83-76; on Dec. 11, defeated Rend Lake College, 94-81; on Dec. 14, routed Kaskaskia College, 114-86 and finally, on the 17th, defeated Illinois Central College, 88-82.
In January, the Lakers had a 5-3 record, which pushed their overall record to 17-4. The highlight of the month came on Jan. 4, when they demolished Richard J. Daley College Bulldogs with their largest margin of victory for the season, 120-77.
The Lakers’ next game, on the 8th, the Lakers scored their most points of the season, as they pulled away from the Olney Central College Knights, 125-106, in Olney, IL.
On the 13th, the Lakers suffered their first of two home losses of the season, as they fell to the John A. Logan College Volunteers, 88-86, in a hard-fought game.
The Lakers finished February with a losing record of 3-4, which dropped their overall record to 20-8. On Feb. 1 at Ina, IL, the Lakers gave up the most points of the season, as they fell to the Rend Lake Warriors, 115-102. On the 22nd, the Lakers lost only their second home game of the season as they went down fighting, 92-86, to the Vincennes University Trail Blazers.
In March, the Lakers went 3-1, as they won their first three games of the month. They won their final two regular season games, winning their home finale on the 1st against the Southwestern College Blue Storm, 99-79. In the Lakers’ final regular season game, on the 4th, they defeated the Wabash Valley College Warriors, 92-85.
After winning the final two regular season games in March, the Lakers split two games in the GRAC tournament, which was held at the campus of Rend Lake College in Ina, IL. The Lakers defeated Shawnee Community College Saints, 92-88 on the 10th before falling to John A. Logan College Volunteers, 101-82, which concluded their season.
