Well, this year went by really fast, didn’t it? One second it was January 1 with a cybertruck explosion outside Trump Tower in Las Vegas and a terrorist attack in New Orleans and then…BAM!!!. It’s April already. How time flies… 

Anyhow, I bring you a highlight reel of both the positives and negatives that have occurred from the period covered in the February print of The Navigator—featuring the News article “2025 So Far,” which spans news highlights from January 1 to early February—up until now in April (Well, technically a few days before April). 

FEBRUARY  

• Trump announced 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico and 10% on China. 

• El Salvador offered to house Criminals and Deportees in their infamous Mega Prisons. 

• Trump announces his plan for the U.S. to take over the Gaza strip at the conclusion of the ongoing war. 

• Two rivers, one in Peru and another in Argentina mysteriously turned bright red at the same time. 

• Trump signed an executive order against plastic straws. 

• The UK government requested backdoor access to Apple users encrypted data and if access is granted, Apple isn’t allowed to alert users that their encryption is compromised. In response, Apple decided to completely remove their Advanced Data Protection feature for users in the UK. 

• The first ever footage of an “alive” Black Sea Devil Fish near the surface of the during daylight was captured. 

• Frozen flood in Detroit, Michigan. 

• Pharaoh: Thutmose II’s tomb was discovered for the first time since Tutankhamun. 

• 3 buses explode and 2 others were found with bombs but malfunction in what Police called a suspected Terror attack in Israel. 

• Microsoft created a new state of matter that only exists at a quantum level called a Topological State. 

• TVs throughout the Department of Housing and Urban Development in D.C was hacked, and an AI generated video of Donald Trump kissing Elon Musk’s feet was played. 

• Trump unveiled a new visa program called the Gold Card where permanent residency can be bought for 5 million dollars. 

• Donald Trump met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, president of Ukraine in the Oval office. 

• Onijah Robinson was arrested in Dubai. 

• Bianca Censori’s outfit to the Grammy was the talk and then…she broke up with Kanye West. 

• Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Halftime show performance left fans trying to decode “a message to America.” 

• Google renamed “The Gulf of Mexico” to “The Gulf of America.” 

• Tesla sales went down 45% in Europe, 76% down in Germany, 49% down in China with declining sales in America and Australia. 

• The Duolingo Owl dropped dead due to being hit by a Cybertruck (RIP Duo). 

MARCH 

• Donald Trump beat Bill Clinton’s record of the longest presidential address to Congress. 

• South Korea accidentally dropped eight bombs on a civilian village near the North Korean Border during training. 

• Trump ordered a halt on all military support to Ukraine. 

• The first Firing Squad execution in 15 years took place in South Carolina, USA on 67-year-old Brad Sigmund. 

• Donald Tusk, Poland’s Prime Minister announced plans for large scale military training for all adult male in Poland. 

• An American oil tanker collided with a Portuguese cargo ship, whose captain was Russian, in the North Sea. 

• Tesla stocks took a nosedive, and Elon Musk loses $22.8 billion dollars in net worth in the process. 

• X (formerly Twitter) faced massive cyberattack said to have IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area. 

• Playboi Carti released a new album titled “I am Music” consisting of 30 tracks. 

• The largest protest in Serbian history took place, with official estimates reporting over 325,000 participants and unofficial figures suggesting the crowd may have exceeded 800,000. 

• A devastating Tornado outbreak swept through the southern United States from March 13 to 16, 2025, resulting in at least 33 fatalities and widespread destruction. 

• Texas and Oklahoma battled dust storms and 130 wildfires on the same March 13 to 16, 2025, all while Western Minnesota was also hit with a Blizzard warning. 

• The United States expelled South Africa’s ambassador calling him “a race baiting-politician that hates America and President Trump.” 

• The Gaza-Israel ceasefire was broken as dozens of Israeli warplanes were launched across the Gaza strip with Israel, saying the attack was lunched because Hamas refused to return some hostages. 

• After 9 months, the two astronauts that were stranded in space finally made it back to earth with Sunita Williams breaking the record for The Most Space Walking for a Female Astronaut. 

• The US ranks 24th in the 2025 World Happiness Report, which is the lowest it has ever been. 

• Oh yeah, the Duolingo Owl is actually alive! He faked his death to find out who truly cares about him and to see if users would maintain their streaks during his absence.
