It’s lights out and away we go for the 75 season of Formula One (F1, Formula 1) with the first three races of the season already completed. The first Grand Prix took place on March 16, 2025 in Australia at Albert Park in Melbourne. Lando Norris, F1 driver for the Mclaren Racing Team took an early lead by securing pole position which ultimately led him to victory. Norris is still currently the leader for the World Championship and Mclaren is the leader for the Constructors championship.
The Australian Grand Prix kept fans on their toes with rookie Isaac Hadjar crashing in the formation lap leading to his retirement from the Grand Prix. We also saw 5 other retirements during the Grand Prix. Rookies Jack Doohan, Gabriel Borteleto and fan favorite rookie Fernando Alonso all crashed or had unfortunate failures from the car. Liam Lawson and Carlos Sainz also crashed and were out of the Grand Prix.
The Chinese Grand Prix was a less eventful race thatn the Australian one but we saw some strategic racing from Charles Leclerc, not Ferrari strategy. Leclerc found himself with a botched wing after making contact with his teammate Lewis Hamilton early on in the Grand Prix. Even though he was able to control his car and finish the race he was disqualified after due to being underweight. Pierre Gasly also found himself underweight and disqualified. Ferrari fans were shocked to found out Lewis Hamilton was also disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix due to the cars excessive skid-plank wear. Many Ferrari fans were disappointed but not necessarily shocked that the Ferrari team screwed up the race for the drivers.
The Japanese Grand Prix saw its excitement before the race weekend even started. Lawson who was promoted this year from Red Bull’s developmental team to the main team found himself on the chopping block. He was bumped down from the lead team and Yuki Tsunoda was promoted to his seat. Tsunoda was a contender for the second Red Bull seat before Lawson was announced as the driver. Many fans were upset it went to Lawson instead but once Tsunoda and Lawson swapped for the Japanese Grand Prix fans said it was a “career suicide” for Tsunoda. The fans said this because of how bad the Red Bull car is.
The excitement is not over for F1 fans as the Japanese Grand Prix was the start of a triple header. The next Grand Prix’s will be in Bahrain and then Saudi Arabia.
