Snow has certainly made its presence known this year, with plenty of snowstorms blanketing our surroundings. While the cold may tempt us to stay indoors, there’s something magical about snow that brings out the kid in all of us. Instead of wishing for warmer weather, why not embrace the snow and make the most of it? Here are some fun activities you can enjoy this winter season!
Starting off with the most common, building a snowman! This classic winter activity never gets old. Gather some friends or family, roll up some giant snowballs and get creative. Whether you make a traditional snowman with a carrot nose or a quirky snow sculpture, it’s a fun way to spend time outdoors. Go sledding! If there’s a hill nearby, grab a sled, toboggan, or even a sturdy piece of cardboard and let gravity do the rest. Sledding is exhilarating and a great way to enjoy the fresh air. Just remember to bundle up and stay safe! My personal favorite: snowball fight! Create memories by having a friendly snowball fight. Divide into teams, build snow forts and let the fun begin. It’s a great way to burn off energy while laughing and playing in the snow. Try snow painting! This is a unique and creative way to enjoy the snow. Fill spray bottles with water and a few drops of food coloring, then use them to paint pictures or designs on the snow. It’s an artistic twist on winter fun that kids and adults will both enjoy.
Go snowshoeing! If you love the outdoors, snowshoeing can be a peaceful and beautiful experience. Walking through a snow-covered forest or along a quiet trail lets you connect with nature in a whole new way. Make snow angels! This one is simple but so much fun! Find a fresh patch of snow, lie down and move your arms and legs to create a snow angel. It’s an easy way to add a little joy to your day. Build an igloo or snow fort! If you got as much snow as we did, this is definitely going to be possible to build. It’s a fun challenge and can be a great group activity. Once you’re done, you’ll have a cool (literally!) hideout to admire. Go ice skating! Many communities set up outdoor ice rinks during the winter. If skating is your thing, it’s a great way to enjoy the snow and cold while staying active.
Enjoy hot chocolate outside! Sometimes, the simplest activities are the best. Take a thermos of hot chocolate outside, find a cozy spot and enjoy the view of the snowy landscape. It’s a quiet moment that will leave you feeling refreshed. Try winter photography! Snow creates breathtaking scenery, so why not capture the beauty around you? Whether you use a smartphone or a professional camera, taking photos of snowy landscapes can be a rewarding hobby.
The snow gives us a chance to slow down and enjoy the beauty of winter. Instead of dreading the cold, grab your coat, hat and gloves and head outside to create some snowy memories. Who knows? You might just discover a new favorite winter tradition!
