Going to Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” is any Swift’s fans (swiftie) dream. Luckily enough, I had the opportunity to go see the show in person after fighting with Ticketmaster and winning the great war. After waiting over one year to see Miss. Swift live, I and many other fans finally got a chance the first weekend in Nov. in Indianapolis.
With 257 friendship bracelets made and ready to trade, I put on my platform boots so I could see over the heads and phones of people and headed out the door. Walking to Lucas Oil Stadium was a very interesting experience. You see fans without tickets holding signs hoping to be lucky enough to receive one, people crying because they got scammed, friendship bracelets being traded and so many bejeweled outfits.
In the stadium crowd you see every era of Swift’s career represented. I personally chose to represent the “Reputation” era, as it is my favorite. I wore a black dress with snake tights and a blazer with a newspaper print, also glitter, you cannot forget the glitter at a Taylor Swift concert. Many swifties made their outfits, customizing them to look just like Swift’s or inspired by something Swift wore.
Gracie Abrams was the opening act for Swift and put on a crowd-pleasing performance. Many fans and even security guards were singing and dancing along. After her performance the countdown began for when Swift would take the stage.
After what felt like years finally, blondie herself popped up wearing her tangerine “Lover” bodysuit and dazzling the crowd with her vocals. Travis Kelce and Swift’s mom, whom fans lovingly refer to as Mama Swift, also popped up at the VIP tent to view Swift’s performance.
After the “Lover” era, we danced our way into the “Fearless” era and eventually through all the eras, except Swift’s debut self-titled album which does not have a set on the tour. Personally, I was blown away by the visuals of the show, more specifically, the ones in the “The Tortured Poets Department” era. In this era we saw Swift be abducted by aliens, spin around on what fans refer to as a “stage Roomba,” dance around while writing on a type writer, all while on a gigantic bed and finally we got to see her “die” from the “Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” only to be resurrected and perform one last song with a broken heart.
Overall, I had a marvelous time at “The Eras Tour” and wish I could see it again. Luckily, I can stream the movie and perform in my living room! With the tour coming to an end fans are excited to see what Swift does next but saddened to put “The Eras Tour” in the vault of memories.
