Christmas movies are one of the best genres in movie history. Who claims this to be true? Me the one typing this article. Yet again who does not like to cuddle up on their living room couch, wearing the fluffiest socks known to man, with a warm bowl of popcorn watching the best movies in Christmas history. Cool weather is the best time to watch any Christmas movie. Not just because it is around the Holidays, but because of the cold it allows anyone to burry themselves in piles of blankets and pillows. Christmas is for giving and spreading Christmas cheer. So let me dive in and tell you which movies you should consider watching this year!
“The Santa Clause” is one of the best classic movies to ever be made. Tying in the troubles of divorced parents and the importance of spreading Christmas cheer! This movie is full of hilarious jokes and good-feeling moments. The aesthetic throughout the whole movie is also another reason I love it so much. When I am looking for a Christmas movie, I always look for ones with the same quality as “The Santa Clause.” Why do you ask? It is because of how the quality makes me feel throughout the movie. The lighting and good-feeling moments are what make “The Santa Clause” movie so enjoyable. If the film were made in this new age of film the lighting and feeling would not be present. That feeling will not be there, because times have changed and so has the way kids act. If this movie were remade, which has probably already happened, to make it relatable to this generation the Christmas spirit would not be as present as it was in 1994. It feels like to me movies are not made the same anymore. That is why I like to watch this movie every December.
“Home Alone,” full of action all throughout the movie. Who knew a kid could think of so many ways to defend his home while his parents left him home alone. This movie has been one of my favorites ever since I was a kid because of the plot. I liked how Kevin found a way to do everything alone and even ordered his own pizza. The funniest part in the movie I think would have to be when the robbers kept slipping on the icy stairs trying to get into Kevin’s house. The comments Kevin makes throughout the movie are also hilarious. I love to watch this movie with my little brother and see his reactions because he is around the same age as Kevin.
Action movies have always been another genre I love. What better yet than to add action to a Christmas movie! “Red One,” a new Christmas movie with the main character played by Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock. I watched this movie on Dec. 17, 2024. Although it was not typically the type of Christmas movie I would usually watch, I loved it. With all the action such as hopping buildings, looking for Santa Clause and fighting Gryla to save all the children is such a good plot. This movie had a great cast, and I loved how they made all the mythical creatures real.
This Christmas break consider inviting the family over to enjoy watching some Christmas movies. Sharing laughter and exchanging smiles is another especially important action to be made around Christmas. How else will Santa make his way around the world without Christmas cheer? Christmas movies are extremely important to me because of the way they make me feel. All these movies bring me so much joy and I cannot wait to watch them all over again next year. After reading all about these movies, which ones would you like to watch next?
