The International Students Club of Lake Land College went on a trip out west at the beginning of summer that lasted six days. There were two faculty members and six students and over the span of the six days, they went to:
– The Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.
– Arches National Park in Eastern Utah.
– Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado.
– The Four Corners Monument.
– The Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
– Lowell Observatory in Arizona.
– Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona.
– The painted Desert in Arizona.
This is Natasha Kanyembo and Natasha Mtonga. Kanyembo is a freshman in her second semester and Mtonga just got into Lake Land College. Both are from Zambia in South-Central Africa. Both of them explored Chicago over summer, met new people, and went to Lake Michigan and Wisconsin.
Rebakah Otis is a sophomore here at Lake Land College. Over the summer she went to The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago with her siblings and parents to celebrate her sister’s birthday. Her sister’s name is Ruth Anne Otis, and she is also a student at Lake Land College. They stayed overnight at a hotel so as to get there early and ended up arriving an hour early, giving them enough time to explore the museum before it opened. She found the Zephyr train in the Museum Fascinating and took a picture with it.
Lucas Bixby is a Freshman at Lake Land College. He is also on the school’s baseball team. Over summer, he played baseball in preparation for the fall season and improved his skills. He also worked a full-time job for a construction company and built three houses from foundation until completion. He went to his grandparents for a week and attended two major League Baseball games: St Louis Cardinal and Chicago White Sox games.
This is Mitchell Miller, and he is also a freshman at Lake Land College. Over summer, he ran a feed store with his younger brother and a Lawn Care business on his own. He went for a state Future Farmers of America, FFA convention where he got his state FFA degree. He also went to a Biozyme dealer retreat where he was a guest speaker and got an award.
