This month will have many SGA sophomores graduating from Lake Land College (LLC)! As a part of celebrating their graduation, some sophomores who are graduating were interviewed to get to know them and their future plans. The participating interviewees are Sophia Wagner, Noah Jones, and Elizabeth Cable.
Starting off with Sophia Wagner, she is the Public Information Officer for SGA. Sophia came from Onarga, IL, and is majoring in Horticulture as well as Ag Business.
When asked why Sophia joined SGA, she said, “I joined SGA to be a part of the change and impact on the college and the students. I wanted to help those a part of this Lake Land community and continue to make the College a great experience for everyone.” Sophia’s favorite event involving SGA was the Temple Grandin event hosted by LLC.
Next up is Noah Jones, who is the Treasurer for SGA. Noah is from Effingham, IL, and is majoring in Pre-Chiropractic. He plans on transferring to Southern Illinois University (SIU) after graduating.
Noah had originally joined SGA to become more involved with the college and to have his voice heard. When asked what his favorite event that included SGA was, he said, “Helping facilitate the high school leadership conference.” Noah’s advice for others wishing to join SGA is, “Do it, and don’t be afraid to speak up during the meetings.” He hopes for SGA to continue on making the college a better place in the upcoming years after he has left.
Finally, when asked for any additional comments relating to SGA, Noah states, “At first I wasn’t going to do SGA but then my mom told me about it and it was the best decision I have ever made at LLC.”
Lastly is Elizabeth Cable, who is the SGA Parliamentarian. She is originally from Brownstown, IL, and is majoring in Agriculture. After graduation, she plans on transferring to Western Illinois University (WIU).
During high school, Elizabeth was involved with Future Farmers of America (FFA), and the music program. When asked why she joined SGA, she said, “I was referred to Lisa to run during the sophomore elections in the spring and my time in SGA has allowed me to grow more confident and develop my leadership skills.” Elizabeth’s favorite event involving SGA was the High School Leadership conference. She said, “It allowed me an opportunity to come out of my comfort zone and facilitate a workshop for the students.”
When asked for any additional comments regarding SGA, she said, “I am so grateful I took Ryan Wildman and Lisa’s advice and decided to run as a sophomore delegate! I was able to become a more outgoing and confident person while gaining additional leadership skills I hope to be able to use in my future endeavors!”
As shown by these three SGA members, SGA is a great place to find new people and help the college at the same time! If you wish to join SGA, don’t be afraid and try it!
