It’s crazy to think I’m even writing this goodbye feature article right now. I remember my first semester joining the Navigator team and seeing my predecessors write theirs. I’ve created a lot (both writing and design) within my service in the team, several of which I’m proud of. It’s been one for the books for Lake Land College (LLC) and being a student here has taught me a lot.
I grew up originally in small-town Windsor and graduated from high school, unsure if I’d find an accepting space as an openly queer individual. I went through a journey with my gender identity and sexuality while attending LLC. LLC has definitely made me feel welcome and supported while attending here, and I could feel it. I’ve made several friends and had unforgettable experiences here on campus. Huge shout out to the PRIDE club on campus for taking me in my first semester and trusting me to host the drag bingo event back in Feb.
Not only did LLC give me friends and memories, but also life lessons. It was truly an eye-opening experience, especially when realizing how often I procrastinate (I know I’m not alone here). I’ll be graduating this semester with a degree in IT-Graphic Design and two additional certificates. I was taught many skills I’ll be using in the near future, both pertaining to my career and life in general.
I want to thank LLC for the experiences it gave me that I’ll take with me in successful pursuits. Though I’ll no longer be attending campus, this won’t be the last LLC will hear from me. I have a goal of pursuing a social media career expressing myself and displaying my love for drag. I wish to compete on the reality TV show “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and see what opportunities sprout from my time on the program. I may be born in a small town, but I have big hopes and dreams (or it could just be the delusion speaking). Again, thank you LLC for everything. Be sure to look out for me on your screens!
