With the uproar of Fifth Harmony content on your for-you page, I’m sure “All In My Head (Flex)” is in all our heads. On TikTok, a video was posted by user Noah Miller, better known as @nmillz1, on Feb. 19 promoting the song captioned, “What do y’all know about this song?” The video went viral on the platform(s), creating the joke trend titled Fifth Harmony Revolution. The original video on TikTok has since been taken down due to sound removal but is still on Instagram reels.
Four out of the five members of Fifth Harmony have acknowledged this trend, with singer-songwriter Camila Cabello commenting, “forever banger tbh,” on the initial post. The remaining members have alluded to the song and/or video in their recent social media posts. This isn’t the group’s first hit on social media years after their release. Their debut single, “Miss Movin’ On,” had its rounds on TikTok way after the song was released.
This joke got so huge that pop-culture journalism got ahold and falsely rumored the idea of a reunion between the girls. Names such as Pop Base and Page Six rumored a possible reunion, including ex-member Cabello, but later disregarded due to Rolling Stone’s input. This has got to be the dumbest yet most clever joke I’ve seen on TikTok. The rumors of Fifth Harmony getting back together were not on my 2024 bingo card, but it was an enjoyable experience.
As iconic as they may be, I find there is no reason for the group to reunite. Of course, they’ve had their bangers, such as “Work From Home” and “I’m In Love With a Monster,” but it wouldn’t be ground-breaking if they continued making music again. There are many other artists out there from the early-mid 2000s who I would find more revolutionary if they were to return, such as Britney Spears and One Direction. Sure, the song is a banger and I needed that reminder, but I can remind myself of other songs from the 2000s with my throwbacks playlist. It’s a good song, but ridiculous how powerful social media can really be.
