On Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Pride Club and Student Activity Board (SAB) held a joint event of Love and PRIDE Bingo. The event was held in the theater in the Luther Student Center.
Approximately 25 people attended the event, however many others stopped by to observe. Lasting from 11am-1pm, students were able to join and leave as they wished. Hosting the event was none other than drag queen, Enby Vivacious. Miss Vivacious kept the players entertained by not just announcing bingo numbers, but by cracking jokes and communicating with her audience.
When arriving at the event, participants were invited to sit at two large tables where everyone was given a bingo sheet. Spread across the tables were candies to enjoy. Throughout the rounds of bingo, Enby Vivacious provided the audience with LGBTQ+-related trivia. There were multiple rounds of bingo played, resulting in many winners. For each round, a different style of bingo was played. In some rounds, in order to win, the participants would need to get five in a row. Other rounds included creating certain shapes or patterns, as well as covering the entire board.
Many prizes were available for the winners of each round, such as Valentine’s Day-related goodies and Laker Nest Bookstore vouchers. Alongside the bingo, SAB provided free popcorn and drinks for students at the event.
After the event had concluded, Willow Koontz, the winner of the first round of Love and PRIDE bingo, agreed to do a short interview with the Navigator. “It was really fun. I won the first round of bingo, so that was pretty good,” they stated. Willow encourages other students at Lake Land College to come and participate in other school events too.
The host of Love and PRIDE bingo, Envy Vivacious, also caught up with the Navigator for an interview. When asked what inspired Enby Vivacious to hold the event, they declared, “I’ve just always wanted to host something while in drag. I’m glad it was here with people I’m comfortable with.” Enby would love to participate in hosting more opportunities in the future. Be sure to look out for other SAB events this semester!
