Woah. My time at Lake Land College (LLC) flew by so quickly. I mean seriously, when I started college at LLC, I had absolutely no idea how fast the time would fly. Everyone always says that these years go by fast, but it is hard to really understand what they mean until you experience it yourself. Looking back, I started college being so nervous and I really did think I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. Little did I know, things were about to change and I was about to learn so much.
I started college with the intention of earning a degree in actuarial science. I have always been somewhat of a bookworm, great at math and I have also always been an introvert. What a great career choice for someone with those qualities, right? Potentially, yes. However, as the semester went on, I started to realize that while I could be good in that particular field, I was not passionate about it. Little did I know the world religions class I was taking was about to open doors I didn’t even know existed.
Through my world religions class, during my first year at LLC, I received an opportunity to work alongside a teacher to essentially learn how to be a college teacher. I can now say that teaching higher education is something I am passionate about. So, my plans have definitely changed, but I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for everyone who has walked alongside me at LLC.
This coming spring I am transferring to Taylor University (TU), where I plan to pursue a bachelors of science in Philosophy. After that, I plan to go on to pursue a masters degree.
Ultimately, I want to say thank you! Thank you so much to everyone at LLC who has been a part of my journey, and thank you for giving me so many wonderful opportunities that have allowed me to grow in so many ways. Also, thank you to the Navigator for making all of my Rory Gilmore dreams come true. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to work with a fun staff and to do so in a great environment.
So, while my time at LLC has been a short chapter in my life, the impact that it has had on me is larger than I could have ever imagined and that I will always cherish.
