Lake Land College’s 2023-2024 Student Government Association (SGA) President is Madilyn Brummer. Brummer graduated from Dieterich High School in Dieterich, Illinois. She is currently an ag transfer student here at Lake Land, and she plans to transfer next fall to Murray State University to further her education. In her free time, Brummer loves spending time with her friends and family outdoors engaging in activities, such as boating and camping. Being raised on a farm, she also enjoys four-wheeler riding as well as working with livestock. Throughout high school, Brummer was heavily involved in Student Council, Future Farmers of America (FFA) and other clubs where she held multiple leadership positions. She also served as a 2022-2023 officer for the state FFA.
Due to her heavy involvement in student council and numerous clubs in high school, Brummer stated that she “wanted to carry that involvement and enthusiasm into college.” She stated that “initially that [previous involvement] was my inspiration just to try new things”. She began her time in SGA last school year as a freshman delegate and was elected president this past spring.
As president, Brummer will oversee the SGA team and their meetings, and she will be in charge of carrying out any specific details or tasks needed to be done. As a member of SGA, she will also take part in addressing student concerns and working with staff and students across campus. She stated, “We [SGA] help out in any way we can.” As a team, the SGA wants to encourage student involvement throughout the year. “We did discuss, this summer, a lot about involvement and getting kids active in the student activity events, as well as getting them on the team for SGA, SAB, the Navigator [and] things like that,” said Brummer.
Brummer looks forward to the upcoming events throughout the school year, such as Welcome Day this fall and the High School Leadership Conference in the spring. She also notes that she is excited for the High School Leadership Conference, where she gets to play a heavy role in planning the workshops and activities for the high school students.
