Toby Winans is the Student Government Association (SGA) Treasurer for the 2022-2023 academic year. Winans handles SGA’s budget and spending of that budget for the academic year. He also takes care of purchasing things for the various SGA events throughout the school year, whether that be buying cookies to promote SGA voting or candy for Career Day. It also includes budgeting for SGA apparel so that every SGA member can look their best on Wednesdays every week.

Toby lives in Blue Mound, IL, a small village located next to Taylorville, where he attended High School. During his free time, Toby says, “ I like to hang out with my friends and family outside of SGA. One hobby I quite like is flying drones for pictures.” Toby also has “owned a Crop Scouting business for four years, worked for Brandt Consolidated taking tissue samples, assisted in maintaining a shop and worked for Head’s Farm cattle operation for a summer as well.”

When asked why he wanted to be SGA treasurer, he replied, “as a freshman, I had no idea what I wanted, but during a SAB event, the Vice President last year, Chase Temmen, invited me to join the club! I joined, not knowing how involved I would be. One year later, elections came up, and I knew I wanted an office. Treasure[r] seemed like just the area for me. I love meeting with Lisa every week for updates and keeping track of the Club’s money.”

Winans also explained what he wanted to see with SGA financials or what he was seeing that he thought was good and replied, “I want to see good funding from SGA to other clubs, which we do! I also want to see the money go to good use. We have bought shirts for our members, hired a speaker for leadership opportunities, or educational items like these.” He added to this by saying, “I hope to give my team and the College’s Student Government Association all my hard work and dedication for the rest of my term.”
