Lake Land College’s (LLC) Student Government Association (SGA) wrapped up the month of September with guest speakers Josh Fulk and Mitch Haller, both involved with the new Lake Land Clay Target Shooting Team. Coach Josh Fulk gave a brief overview of what the team entails. He stated, “On the team we have 10 spots, and the board gave us six scholarships. The scholarships can be made as full rides or as partials.” Mitch Haller, a sophomore pre-med major at LLC, joined Coach Fulk in sharing what the clay target shooting team is like. “I wouldn’t compare it to any of the sports we have, really. The sport I would mostly compare it to would be golf because you can go out there and shoot a great round of golf, but the thing that separates the pros from the amateurs is consistency. So, if you want to be really good you have to be consistent,” Haller said.
Members of the SGA asked questions to learn more about the new athletic team. In closing, SGA President Madilyn Brummer thanked Fulk and Haller for coming and sharing and reminded them saying, “If there is anything you guys ever need help with, I mean funding, [or] anything feel free to come back and ask. We’d be happy to help you out in any way.”
Throughout the month of October, SGA discussed many upcoming opportunities and events. Some of which will take place before winter break, and some that will take place in the new year. Throughout their meetings, they also engaged in numerous conversations sparking smiles and laughter.
One of the first upcoming things discussed throughout the month was SGA’s upcoming meeting with President Bullock which will be Nov. 1. Next, they briefly covered the Red Cross blood drive which will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 9, as well as the One Stop Community Christmas that will take place on LLC’s campus on Dec. 9. In addition, they briefly went over the club match for the One Stop Community Christmas, where each club donation received will be matched with an equal donation from SGA.
