As Illinois continues to open up more and more, Lake Land College is finally going to be opening up for on-campus classes. The transition from virtual to in-person classes will start on May 3, when all administrators, supervisors and chair members are asked to primarily work on campus. After that, all full-time staff will be encouraged to transition back to campus by May 17. As it was before, all visitors, staff and students will be required to fill out the COVID-19 Campus Visit Screening Form before being permitted to go on campus. This form has been updated to include information about vaccinations and how they may affect your visits to Lake Land. Face coverings and social distancing will also still be required as they have in the past in an effort to minimize any exposure to the virus. Since the water fountains are not available for use, Lake Land plans to provide bottled water for staff and students that are on campus.

As the state transitions from Phase 4 to Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois plan, more parts of the school will open up to use. Once we get to this transition, all entrances are expected to be opened up for students to move from class to class. Only one side of each entrance will be open to encourage a one-way flow through the doors, along with markers to guide the flow of staff and students. COVID-19 vaccinations will not be required for neither staff nor students, but are strongly recommended by the college. Doing so will allow the college to be more open to students and will help progress the Restore Illinois mandate. In addition, people who are fully vaccinated will not be required to quarantine if exposed to the virus unless they are showing symptoms associated with COVID-19.

For more information on specific rules for the summer and fall semesters, make sure to take a look at the Return to Campus Plan made by the college. Be sure to check your school emails and the college website for more updates about the transition from virtual to in-person classes and activities. We look forward to seeing some of your faces in the coming semesters!
