In a typical year, the volleyball season would be wrapping up and the men’s and women’s basketball season would be beginning right now. However, because of COVID-19 all sports seasons were to take place in the spring semester. Now as the fall semester is coming to an end, the Lakers sports team will begin their season in January or November.

The men’s basketball team and the cheer team got lucky in having an early first game. Their first game was a home game on Nov. 27 vs. Wabash Valley College. Their next games are an away game on Jan. 22 vs. Kankakee College and a home game on Jan. 27 vs. Parkland College.

The women’s basketball season starts on Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. with a home game vs. Lincoln Trail College. Throughout January they will have three more games including a home game on Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. vs. Olney Central College, an away game on Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. vs. Shawnee Community College and an away game on Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. vs. Wabash Valley College.

The volleyball team will have their first game of the season on Jan. 26 with a home game vs. Spoon River College. Additionally, they will have two more home games in January on the same day, Jan. 30, with the first game vs. Heartland Community College and the second game vs. Kankakee College.

With the long-awaited Laker season starting, many fans can be ready to cheer Lake Land College’s athletes on and show their Laker pride via a live stream of the game in case fans are not permitted in the stands due to COVID-19 safety procedures.
