Consolidated Communications held their annual Special Olympics Family Festival on Saturday, September 29. This year’s theme was Jurassic SOFF. The festival is an exciting event filled with a number of food vendors, entertainment, and most importantly, noncompetitive games for the athletes. The event is expected to attract over 700 athletes from across central Illinois. Special Olympics International has stated that the event is “ one of the biggest events of its kind in the world”. In order to have a smooth running event, over 1200 volunteers came to help with running games or being a friend for a day. The Family Festival has many sports and activities for the athletes such as basketball, soccer, football and many other family fun games. There were also many characters and “dinosaurs” walking around the event and interacting with the athletes. The event was “Dino-mite” and was another successful year.
