LLC hosts academic competition for high school students

On Friday, Feb. 3, high school students will take over the Field House for the WYSE, or Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering, competitions.
WYSE, headquartered at the University of Illinois, is an international program with the goal of interesting students in science and engineering careers. It offers competitions in everything from English to computer science, and allows students to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to real-life problems.
As in years past, Lake Land College will be hosting the regional competition, where local schools will compete within their divisions. According to the Effingham Daily News, 25 schools will compete this year. The winners will continue on to compete at Eastern Illinois University in March eventually at the University of Illinois in April.
