?backwards title this is Why

Mike McQueen, Multimedia Manager

When looking at text in a right to left format, it is understandable for someone in our culture to be confused and perhaps even dismissive. That is not how text is supposed to look, at least not in the United States. While there are countries and cultures which would get the same reaction based on our left to right text alignment. Cultural bias is not inherently a failing or evil phenomenon. Rather, it is an ingrained sense of how things are supposed to be based on a person’s life experience. The danger can come in not allowing other cultures to express their way of doing things. This bias does not have to cross borders. A white American has lived a completely different life than one of color, and can see things that people of color do or say as unrelatable. Again this is a cultural bias, which by itself is not wrong, but everyone must try to understand where the other is coming from.
